Erskine S. Dottin

Erskine S. Dottin received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of  West Florida and his Doctorate from Miami University of Ohio. He is currently a member of the Department of Educational Leadership and Professional Studies at Florida International University in Miami, FL.  He served as Fulbright Scholar at Rivers State University of Science and Technology in Port Harcourt, Nigera in 1988-1989.  He is past President of both the Southeast Philosophy of Education Society and the Council for Social Foundations for  Education (formerly the Council of Learned Societies in Education) and served as the latter’s representative on Unit Accreditation Board of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.  He was instrumental  in the NCATE Standards Committee’s work on the conceptual framework.  He is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Scholastic Honor Society.  His research interests are in the areas of humanistic education, the use of case methods and dispositions (as Habits of Mind) in teacher education.
